Trauma Cover FAQs

01

What does trauma insurance cover?

Trauma cover pays out a lump sum of money if you suffer from a “trauma event”, such as a heart attack, cancer, stroke and more. Your policy will outline the "trauma events" or conditions covered under your insurance policy.
02

Why do I need trauma insurance?

After suffering from a traumatic event, it’s important to focus on recovering, knowing your financial needs are taken care of. Trauma cover helps with this. Anyone can suffer a trauma event, at any age. That’s why it’s important to have the certainty that you’ll be taken care of.
03

How much will trauma insurance cost me?

Generally speaking, your age and health play a major factor in the cost of your trauma insurance policy. The life insurance providers that we work with use a variety of models to work out your risk, which affects your premiums (monthly payments). Basically, the healthier and younger you are, the cheaper your policy will be, so it pays to stay healthy and get insurance when you are young before you develop any ailments. It also helps to work with a licensed insurance broker (like us!) who can advocate on your behalf to make sure you’re getting the best cover that is within your budget.
04

Is trauma cover worth getting?

It’s definitely worth considering trauma cover! It’s a lump sum payment that you can use to cover any costs you deem appropriate. Generally, beneficiaries of trauma cover use their funds for medication, treatment or to ease the financial burden of a temporary loss of income. Trauma events are common and can happen at any age, it pays to get it sooner rather than later as it may not be possible to get cover after you’ve suffered an event.
05

Can my children be covered under my trauma insurance policy?

Yes, your children (ages 2-20) can also be covered under your trauma policy. Should your children suffer one of the eligible trauma conditions, a payment for a percentage of your cover would be paid. This is an additional payment that does not reduce the amount of the parent’s cover.
